New Age Looping Basics online classThis online class puts a new spin on "knotless netting", one of the more familiar forms of looping. Video lessons, PDF handouts and coaching help you build a solid foundation of thread control skills and learn to design projects that suit your own tastes and materials. For more information or to register go here.

XKL logoThis online class explores contemporary ways to use an ancient looping technique that's sometimes called Coptic knitting, Tarim stitch or Viking knit. It's worked with a single needle, with the entire length of thread passing through each stitch. Video lessons, PDF handouts and coaching help you build a solid foundation of thread control skills and learn to design projects that suit your own tastes and materials. To join the community of stitchers exploring this ancient technique, register here.

freeform logo revFreeform Looping explores different ways to divide space and fill it, ways to build on small units called motifs or scrumbles, and some amazing dimensional textures you can create with looping. And as with all my online courses, you'll learn to integrate design considerations. (Then you can relegate design to the barely-conscious level that makes working freeform so much fun.) This course is for students with a solid foundation of basic looping skills. It won't review things taught in New Age Looping Basics and Cross-Knit Looping. Those online courses cover how to make round and oval starts, how to work back and forth, how to manage thread additions, how to work increases and decreases while controlling the allocation of thread, and how to work needle chains and other live edge equivalents -- skills that are essential for freeform. See a short video trailer at Register for the Freeform Looping course here.

Technical problems and a heads up
by Donna Kallner - Saturday, 30 June 2018, 5:33 PM

I'm working to resolve a problem a student reported where she can log into the site but cannot enter her classroom. If anyone else has experienced that (or other technical problems), please let me know with an email.

The technical problems are few and far between on this site, but my skill set ...

    Site Looks Different?
by Donna Kallner - Monday, 16 February 2015, 7:46 PM

If your classroom looks a bit different today, it may be because I'm working on a solution to a log-on problem reported by one student (she is able to log in to her account but unable to enter the classroom with her iPad).

If you encounter this problem (or another one), please email me.

I'm considering another platform change that would (I hope) improve things for students using mobile devices to access course material. Will keep you posted. In the meantime, thanks for your patience!
